129. All tremble at force,
of death are all afraid.
Likening others to oneself
kill not nor cause to kill.
129. Moïi ngöôøi sôï hình phaït,
Moïi ngöôøi sôï töû vong.
Laáy mình laøm ví duï
Khoâng gieát, khoâng baûo gieát.
130. All tremble at force,
dear is life to all.
Likening others to oneself
kill not nor cause to kill.
130. Moïi ngöôøi sôï hình phaït,
Moïi ngöôøi thöông soáng coøn;
Laáy mình laøm ví duï,
Khoâng gieát, khoâng baûo gieát.
131. Whoever harms with force
those desiring happiness,
as seeker after happiness
one gains no future joy.
131. Chuùng sanh caàu an laïc,
Ai duøng tröôïng haïi ngöôøi,
Ñeå tìm laïc cho mình,
Ñôøi sau khoâng ñöôïc laïc.
132. Whoever doesn't harm with force
those desiring happiness,
as seeker after happiness
one then gains future joy.
132. Chuùng sanh caàu an laïc,
Khoâng duøng tröôïng haïi ngöôøi,
Ñeå tìm laïc cho mình,
Ñôøi sau höôûng ñöôïc laïc.
133. Speak not harshly to other folk,
speaking so, they may retort.
Dukkha indeed is quarrelsome speech
and force for force may hurt you.
133. Chôù noùi lôøi aùc ñoäc,
Noùi aùc, bò noùi laïi,
Khoå thay lôøi phaån noä,
Ñao tröôïng phaûn chaïm ngöôøi.
134. If like a broken gong
never you reverberate,
quarreling's not part of you,
that Nibbana's reached.
134. Neáu töï mình yeân laëng,
Nhö chieác chuoâng bò beå.
Ngöôøi ñaõ chöùng Nieát Baøn
Ngöôøi khoâng coøn phaån noä.
135. As with force the cowherds drive
their cattle out to graze,
like this decay and death drive out
the life from all beings.
135. Vôùi gaäy ngöôøi chaên boø,
Luøa boø ra baõi coû;
Cuõng vaäy, giaø vaø cheát,
Luøa ngöôøi ñeán maïng chung.
136. When the fool does evil deeds
their end he does not know,
such kamma burns the one unwise
as one who's scorched by fire.
136. Ngöôøi ngu laøm ñieàu aùc,
Khoâng yù thöùc vieäc laøm.
Do töï nghieäp, ngöôøi ngu
Bò nung naáu, nhö löûa.
137. Whoever forces the forceless
or offends the inoffensive,
speedily comes indeed
to one of these ten states:
137. Duøng tröôïng phaït khoâng tröôïng
Laøm aùc ngöôøi khoâng aùc.
Trong möôøi loaïi khoå ñau,
Chòu gaáp moät loaïi khoå:
138. Sharp pain or deprivation,
or injury to the body,
or to a serious disease,
derangement of the mind;
138. Hoaëc khoå thoï khoác lieät,
Thaân theå bò thöông vong,
Hoaëc thoï beänh kòch lieät,
Hay loaïn yù taùn taâm.
139. Troubled by the government,
or else false accusation,
or by loss of relatives,
destruction of one's wealth;
139. Hoaëc tai vaï töø vua,
Hay bò vu troïng toäi;
Baø con phaûi ly taùn,
Taøi saûn bò naùt tan.
140. Or one's houses burn
on raging conflagration,
at the body's end, in hell
arises that unwise one.
140. Hoaëc phoøng oác nhaø cöûa
Bò hoûa tai thieâu ñoát;
Khi thaân hoaïi maïng chung,
AÙc tueä sanh ñòa nguïc.
141. Not going naked, nor matted hair, nor filth,
nor fasting, not sleeping on bare earth,
no penance on heels, nor sweat nor grime
can purify a mortal still overcome by doubt.
141. Khoâng phaûi soáng loõa theå
Beän toùc, tro treùt mình,
Tuyeät thöïc, laên treân ñaát,
Soáng nhôùp, sieâng ngoài xoåm,
Laøm con ngöôøi ñöôïc saïch,
Neáu khoâng tröø nghi hoaëc.
142. Even though adorned, if living in peace
calm, tamed, established in the holy life,
for beings all laying force aside:
one pure, one peaceful, a bhikkhu is he.
142. Ai soáng töï trang söùc,
Nhöng an tònh, nhieáp phuïc,
Soáng kieân trì, phaïm haïnh,
Khoâng haïi moïi sinh linh.
Vò aáy laø phaïm chí,
Hay sa moân, khaát só.
143. Where in the world is found
one restrained by shame,
awakened out of sleep
as splendid horse with whip?
143. Thaät khoù tìm ôû ñôøi,
Ngöôøi bieát theïn, töï cheá,
Bieát traùnh neù chæ trích
Nhö ngöïa hieàn traùnh roi.
144. As splendid horse touched with whip,
be ardent, deeply moved,
by faith and virtue, effort too,
by meditation, Dhamma's search,
by knowledge, kindness, mindfulness;
abandon dukkha limitless!
144. Nhö ngöïa hieàn chaïm roi,
Haõy nhieät taâm, haêng haùi,
Vôùi tín, giôùi, tinh taán,
Thieàn ñònh cuøng traïch phaùp.
Minh haïnh ñuû, chaùnh nieäm,
Ñoaïn khoå naøy voâ löôïng.
145. Irrigators govern water,
fletchers fashion shafts,
as joiners shape their timber
those of good conduct tame themselves.
145. Ngöôøi trò thuûy daãn nöôùc,
Keû laøm teân naén teân,
Ngöôøi thôï moäc uoán vaùn,
Baäc töï ñieàu, ñieàu thaân.
