| 273. Of paths
the Eight-fold is the best,
of truths the statement Four, the passionless of teachings best, of humankind the Seer. |
273. Taùm chaùnh, ñöôøng
thuø thaéng,
Boán caâu, lyù thuø thaéng, Ly tham, phaùp thuø thaéng, Giöõa caùc loaøi hai chaân, Phaùp nhaõn, ngöôøi thuø thaéng. |
| 274. This is
the Path, no other's there
for purity of insight, enter then upon this path bemusing Mara utterly. |
274. Ñöôøng naøy, khoâng
ñöôøng khaùc
Ñöa ñeán kieán thanh tònh. Neáu ngöôi theo ñöôøng naøy, Ma quaân seõ meâ loaïn. |
| 275. Entered
then upon this Path
you'll make an end of dukkha. Freed in knowledge from suffering's stings the Path's proclaimed by me. |
275. Neáu ngöôi theo ñöôøng
naøy,
Ñau khoå ñöôïc ñoaïn taän. Ta daïy ngöôi con ñöôøng. Vôùi trí, gai chöôùng dieät. |
| 276. Buddhas
just proclaim the Path
but you're the ones to strive. Contemplatives who tread the Path are freed from Mara's bonds |
276. Ngöôi haõy nhieät
tình laøm,
Nhö Lai chæ thuyeát daïy. Ngöôøi haønh trì thieàn ñònh Thoaùt troùi buoäc aùc Ma. |

wisdom one discerns
transience of conditioned things one wearily from dukkha turns treading the Path to purity. |
277. Taát caû haønh
voâ thöôøng
Vôùi Tueä, quaùn thaáy vaäy Ñau khoå ñöôïc nhaøm chaùn: Chính con ñöôøng thanh tònh. |
| 277. When with
wisdom one discerns
the dukkha of conditioned things one wearily from dukkha turns treading the Path to purity. |
278. Taát caû haønh
khoå ñau
Vôùi Tueä, quaùn thaáy vaäy, Ñau khoå ñöôïc nhaøm chaùn: Chính con ñöôøng thanh tònh. |
| 278. When with
wisdom one discerns
all knowables are not a self one wearily from dukkha turns treading the Path to purity. |
279. Taát caû phaùp
voâ ngaõ,
Vôùi Tueä, quaùn thaáy vaäy, Ñau khoå ñöôïc nhaøm chaùn: Chính con ñöôøng thanh tònh. |
| 279. Though
time to strive, not striving,
while young and strong yet indeed, weak-minded and irresolute: one finds not wisdom's way. |
280. Khi caàn, khoâng noã
löïc,
Tuy treû maïnh, nhöng löôøi Chí nhu nhöôïc, bieáng nhaùc. Vôùi trí tueä thuï ñoäng, Sao tìm ñöôïc chaùnh ñaïo? |
| 280. In speech
ever watchful with mind well-restrained
never with body do unwholesomeness. So should one purify these three kamma-paths winning to the Way made known by the Seers. |
281. Lôøi noùi ñöôïc
thaän troïng,
Taâm tö kheùo hoä phoøng, Thaân chôù laøm ñieàu aùc, Haõy giöõ ba nghieäp tònh, Chöùng ñaïo thaùnh nhaân daïy. |
| 281. From endeavour
wisdom springs,
lacking effort wisdom wanes: having known this two-fold path either to progress or decline so should one exhort oneself that wisdom may increase. |
282. Tu Thieàn, trí tueä
sanh,
Boû Thieàn, trí tueä dieät. Bieát con ñöôøng hai ngaû Ñöa ñeán höõu, phi höõu, Haõy töï mình noã löïc, Khieán trí tueä taêng tröôûng. |
| 282. The wood
cut down but not a tree
since it's from wood that fear is born. Having cut wood and woodedness O bhikkhus be without a wood. |
283. Ñoán röøng khoâng
ñoán caây
Töø röøng, sinh sôï haõi; Ñoán röøng [1] vaø aùi duïc, Tyû kheo, haõy tòch mòch. |
| 283. As long
indeed as woodedness
of man to women is not cut so long in bondage is one's mind as milch-calf to the mother cow. |
284. Khi naøo chöa caét
tieät,
AÙi duïc giöõa gaùi trai, Taâm yù vaãn buoäc raøng, Nhö boø con vuù meï. |
| 284. Cut off
affection for oneself
as a hand a lily in the Fall. Cultivate this peaceful Path, Nibbana by the Buddha taught. |
285. Töï caét daây aùi
duïc,
Nhö tay beû sen thu, Haõy tu ñaïo tòch tònh, Nieát baøn, Thieän Theä daïy. |
| 285. Here shall
I spend the Rains,
here the Winter, here the Summer. Thus speculates the fool, the danger he knows not. |
286. Muøa möa ta ôû ñaây
Ñoâng, haï cuõng ôû ñaây, Ngöôøi ngu taâm töôûng vaäy, Khoâng töï giaùc hieåm nguy. |
| 286. For one
who has a clinging mind
and finds delight in babes and herds Death does seize and carry away as great flood a sleeping village. |
287. Ngöôøi taâm yù ñaém
say
Con caùi vaø suùc vaät, Töû thaàn baét ngöôøi aáy, Nhö luït troâi haøng nguû. |
| 287. No sons
are there for shelter
nor father nor related folk, one by the Death-king seized upon in kin no shelter finds. |
288. Moät khi töû thaàn
ñeán,
Khoâng coù con che chôû, Khoâng cha, khoâng baø con, Khoâng thaân thích che chôû. |
| 288. Having
understood this fact
the wise by virtue well-restrained swiftly then should clear the Path leading to Nibbana. |
289. Bieát roõ yù nghóa
naøy,
Baäc trí lo trì giôùi, Mau leï laøm thanh tònh, Con ñöôøng ñeán Nieát baøn. |
